On Saturday 4th May 2019, Easington Colliery Primary School won the U11 ESFA Danone Schools’ Cup for Girls. Eight teams took part in the prestigious football competition at the home ground of Birmingham City FC. Easington played five games during the day, winning all five in the process. The win means Easington Colliery are now known as the best girls’ school football team in the country. This is the first time a school from Durham has won the national competition.
As a reward, Easington Colliery will now represent England in the 2019 Danone Nations Cup, held at the RCDE stadium (home to LA Liga side RCD Espanyol) on Saturday 12th October.
Easington’s girls’ are currently on a nineteen game unbeaten streak which has led them to the World Cup Final.
