If a pupil arrives at Easington Colliery Primary School with a statement of special educational needs, we are legally obliged to meet any needs they have. We will also hold annual review meetings to review progress and set appropriate targets and plans going forward.
As of September 2014, any child with a statement will either have their statement transferred to an Education Health Care plan or have it discontinued if we are able to comfortably meet their needs within our allocated funding.
At Easington Colliery Primary School we believe that every child, whatever his or her ability, should have the opportunity to access every area of the curriculum to enable him / her to achieve personal potential academically, socially and emotionally and fully participate in school life. Our curriculum is adapted and differentiated to ensure that all children with SEND can access all areas of the curriculum. This includes all trips, outdoor learning and residential activities.
Our year groups are offered a wide range of topics with a history, geography and science focus. The curriculum is enquiry based and focuses around a central question the children explore.
You can find out more about our curriculum on our website.
If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
